Anyone's LO still not on stage 3's? We make food for DS and even though we have been doing purees we have always kept it on the thicker side. I bought a few jars of stage 3 baby food just to see what it is like and it is definitely more runny that what we have been giving DS (and he didn't really eat it until it was thickened up a bit). If we stick to what we have been doing with his food then when should we introduce finger foods and letting DS attempt to feed himself.

This is us too. Shawn eats mainly table/finger foods, yogurts, we do some fruit purees in like oatmeal, and he'll get the occasional veggie/stage 3 puree if he didn't eat his regular veggies well. I think a lot of people skip the stage 3 altogether; a lot of them taste pretty nasty to me and there's only like 2 that Shawn will eat.
DS eats table food and feeds himself. We start at 6 months with table foods and skip the purees. I have bought them and given them when on a real time crunch but I started with stage 3 for those purposes. I don't see how anyone doesn't make a complete mess with the stage 1 and 2 stuff. It's SO runny. DS eats more than DD does currently!
My Pedi told me stage 3 is really unnecessary when we were at DDs 6 month check up. We have been doing a combo of BLW and pur?es.
