What does this mean?

I feel dumb for asking but saw this and was perplexed. I was driving behind someone with a bumper sticker that said, "Affordable healthcare starts with breast feeding." What does this mean? Is it saying BF babies are healthier than FF babies and therefore won't be sick and need to see a doctor thus saving money? That was the only conclusion I could come to. Anyone else see this? What does it mean????

Yeah, that's pretty much what it means. So effective because guilting me into breastfeeding is totally going to make me want to do it...not.

I'll just stick with my 10th Mountain Division Descendant bumper sticker, thanks.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself here but B hasn't even had a sniffle since being born. Knocking on wood right now. And he's been exclusively FF since 3 weeks.

Honestly, it could go either way. Period.

This exactly. When I taught, I couldn't tell which kids were BF and which were FF. They all got sick at one point or another.

Right?! Isla is BF and she's had sinusitis and is on breathing treatments now for a cough that won't go away. She's obviously screwing everything up ;]

I'm so sorry she has been so sick, rough.

But yes, I've known many healthy BF babies, I've also known many sick ones.

The same applies to FF.

I can also add, as DH advises states on what to do with their healthcare plans and costs, that breastfeeding isn't exactly brought up...ever. No one cares how you were fed decades prior.

Ha, can you imagine going to a DR and being asked 'ok now, were you BF or FF?

Me too. Cali was FF, Cam is EBF. Cam is got her first ear infection around the same time Cali got hers. Cam is having the same digestive problems Cali had as a baby and still has. I see no difference, besides the cost.

I think that bumper sticker is lame.

However, I do believe the copious research that suggests that breastfeeding is associated with lower rates of certain illnesses and health conditions, leading to lower healthcare costs. I think it goes without saying that BFing is a pretty small part of the picture, but a part nonetheless.

That being said, I BFed my DD and am currently BFing DS and I think they've both been sick an average amount of times.

My kids are EFF, so clearly I'm the problem with the American health system.

Meh to people who feel the need to lecture through bumper stickers.

I'm better, I stick to Star Wars stick figures.
