Pregnant after IF

Eventful OB appointment yesterday

So yesterday was my regular OB appointment, im still on every two weeks. So I get there, give my sample and walk back to my room to find a phlebotomist there. Oh hello, why do you want my blood?!? So to the person who asked last week I think (Sorry dont remember who) about being re-tested for HIV, syphallis and all that, apparently it is standard at the end of pregnancy. But wait, that's not all, there was an old familiar face starting at me on the table....my old best friend, the paper blanket! Cue panic. So the nurse then tells me we will be testing for GBS and I'll be getting an internal! Indifferent Oh ok, i'm so glad I was prepared for this! I totally told her I did not shave my legs! She was like oh they didnt tell you this last time, um NO! lol Oddly enough my question was when are they going to test for GBS and I guess I got my answer! Cervix was closed so we were all good there. Apparently I should be prepared now to be checked whenever I go, they said maybe not every time but probably. Yippie.....

Thankfully all was well with baby and the rest of the appointment went fine. This is my last two week stretch!

  • You gotta love unexpected poking and prodding... makes me remember my first run in with the vag cam at the RE's office... I knew I was going to have an u/s (my baseline), but I was not expecting that, LOL!

    Glad your appointment went well!

  • HAHAH - That was me that asked about the bloodwork. I'm actually going to go get that bloodwork done tomorrrow. I was supposed to go last Friday - then got stuck at home waiting for Comcast, and then came down with the plague this week...

I feel for you getting caught off guard with the internal though.

Even after all of the leg spreading with IF, I still need mental preperation for the stir ups.

I  better get some clarification from my dr, about when these will start. I was planning on making my 34 week appointment with the hot male dr in my practice under the assumption that this was going to be the last appointment before a possible internal. HAHAH!

Glad to hear everything checked out ok.

  • I'm fully expecting a cervix check at each appointment from here on out and I'm dreading it because while I attempt to do grooming before my appointments (which we all know is no small task when we get further along) I know I'm doing a bad job and it probably looks like a complete disaster.  Oh well, I'm guessing they're used to it.  :)

Oh my goodness...thanks for the warning, right??  That was my biggest fear everytime I went to the OB.  It's what forced me to shave before every appointment.  I just couldn't bare the thought of not being prepared in case for whatever reason he decided to take a look.  And I get weird about my pedicures too, so I make sure my toes are done nicely as well (OK, I am a total freak).

And at this point, yes, I would be prepared to be checked downstairs every appointment.  Smile

I'm that way about my feet too, but knowing that I'm a little over two weeks out I want to get a pedicure a few days before my c section, so it lasts me awhile post baby.  I'm just making sure I keep a pair of my lucky socks on during my visit
