An ex co-worker (who I am friends with on FB) just had her 1st baby...she's 39, (so not a teen mom or anything...should know better). Well, she just posted a pic of her 1 month old with the heading on the pic saying "Kylie's 1st tast of ice cream". Seriously?!? You don't know better at 39 not to give a new born ice cream?!? I'm pretty sure most teen moms would know better. She is totally getting the side-eye from me. Am I overreacting?
P.S. Sorry for not being around so much...things have been crazy busy around here.
Re: Opinions please...
Eeeww. That's just gross and I don't blame you one bit for judging.
Sounds delicious but good grief!!!
Ok... preparing for some flames here, but...
I don't think it's that big of a deal. A taste of icecream is not going to kill the kid, or even do harm. If she's feeding her an entire bowl or whatever, of course I'd judge. But a taste, IMO, isn't a big deal.
Also, I don't think the mac and cheese, apples, and juice box is all that big of a deal, either.
Any chance she was joking? Like mom was enjoying ice cream and wanted to be cutsie by pretending baby was enjoying it too? It's a stretch, but if one of my mom friends that was that age posted something like that I'd assume she was being silly and not actually feeding solids to a one-month-old.
However, the fact that you're assuming she actually did feed her ice cream makes me think you already have a feeling that this exCW isn't the brightest crayon in the box and you know her better than us. In which case, I'm team not-a-good-idea.
Well obviously. But, you said yesterday, not every day.
When I hear "taste of icecream" I picture the mom eating the icecream, dabbing a bit on her pinkie, and letting the baby take a tiny taste. I wouldn't assume that she was feeding the baby spoonfuls or anything, unless there was a picture showing otherwise.
I'm not saying it's healthy or needed, but I also don't see the harm in it.
P.S. You have, yet again, bewildered me with your siggy, SM... lol
Also, I monkey-butt love you.
Total side eye here. Especially since its January, mid-winter is not for ice cream.
More side eye because she should relish eating all the ice cream while she can! I can't remember the last time I got all of whatever I was eating.

I agree with you. That is appalling. All 3 of those things are so unnecessary. I get that it's not bad once in a while, but this is the mom making this meal. So you figure if she's ok with giving her child 3 unhealthy things in one meal, then she's probably pretty consistently serving unhealthy foods.
I kinda agree with sofa. Toddler meal, eh, maybe they really needed to go to the grocery and it was a whatever's in the house type meal. I think 1 month is way too young for even a taste of ice cream.
For me it doesn't matter that it is ICE CREAM - but that it is something else that BM.. At least my pedi gave me a long lecture about the baby not tasting or eating anything but BM until the child was 4 month - then we could switch to BM-grout.
From 6 months we could give something else - but I would rather give juice-ice than ice cream - we got really strict information NOT to give cow milk before after 1 year.
Just my opinion, based on pedi-information.
The toddler meal. Not a shining moment, but hey, we all have those moments. Food related or otherwise. I wouldn't judge that Much.
Well, as you can see, I never responded to this post (totally slipped my mind lol). Yea, I wouldn't go too crazy over the toddle lunch of choc. covered apples, mac and cheese, juice box, but giving a 1 month old ice cream is absurd.
P.S. Whoever asked if I thought she was joking (sorry...forgot lol bad memory). She wasn't joking because she posted a pic for proof. Yea....
