home doppler

We have a home doppler and I am trying to find out how soon you can find the heartbeat. I tried the other day and couldnt find it and I will be 10 weeks saturday. Is this stil too soon? It is a HI.bebe Fetal Doppler.

I tried using one last pregnancy and it was kind of hit or miss.  I found that I generally freaked myself out when I couldn't find the hb, so I tried not to use it too often!!

just saw a post a few posts down about dopplers - there is a good link in there about mothers vs. babies hb... sounds like what I heard was most likely MY hb, not the babies LOL

I'm not familiar with that doppler. Most people recommend the Sonoline B. I have no idea about the sensitivity of the Hi Bebe, so it's possible the doppler just isn't strong enough to pick it up at that point

It's also really hard to find at first, I only ever found where to look because i had an appointment and they showed me where to look.

I have the Sonoline B so I'm not sure about the strength of yours. With mine, I have to look really low, several inches below my belly button. And I have to go very very slowly. Like even just tilting the probe a different way loses the hb. Go to YouTube and watch videos to see just where you should be looking this early.

i did a little more research on it and it seems like a really good doppler! most people are able to hear the heartbeat and other stuff around 10 weeks:)) you can even hear hiccups with it later on!! they said it is easier to find the babys heartbeat sometimes with a full bladder. so i should hopefully be able to find something soon:))
