First u/s question tp

Good morning ladies!

Gearing up for my first ever pregnancy ultrasound. Not really sure how to feel at this hour. Today I am five weeks six days. What are the chances that we will see a heartbeat?

How many of you have seen a heartbeat this early and more importantly how many didn't and it still ended up turning out okay? I just want to be prepared no matter what we see today.

Thanks in advance. Thoughts and prayers are most welcome and appreciated.

I've never had an ultrasound that early so i have no personal advice, but from reading posts it seems that it is still early and i is quite possible to see no hb at 5w6d but everything still works out well.

I hope you are one of the people that sees the hb that early so you can have some fears alleviated. My thoughts and prayers are wit h you.

That was me yesterday, and we got to see a tiny little blob and got to listen to its heartbeat!!

I'll be thinking about you today - I hope you have a stellar US appt!

My first was around 6w2d and we saw hb.. good luck!!

Mobile but also, yes to what andrea said.. it coould still be too early, hope u get to see hb today!

My first U/S with this pregnancy was 6w2d and we saw a heartbeat. With DS my first scan was 5w6d and we also saw a heartbeat. It is definitely possible to see a heartbeat today. But it is also just as likely that you won't and everything perfectly fine.

They should be able to at least see the yolk sac and fetal pole, it is more than likely too early still to see a hb.

I went to the ER at 5w6d and there was a heartbeat of 100. But I heard it is rare to get a heartbeat that early. So just don't go in with the expectation of a heartbeat, I didn't expect to see one. Because of the spotting I'm glad I did. I'm wishing you the best of luck!

I think 5w6d is really hit or miss, you might get lucky, or it could just be too early. I had an ultrasound at 5w2d and we didn't see a HB, but the dr was able to confirm a sac and that there was something in it. Another u/s at 9w showed baby with a HB. I hope you have GL today and you get to see a little tiny flicker!

My OB won't schedule ultrasounds that early (unless they need to check on something like spotting) because she said that there is too high of a likelihood of not seeing the HB and causing unnecessary stress. Honestly, from everything I've read it could really go either way. Just depends upon what your HCG is and how quickly things are developing. Good luck!

We saw the heartbeat at 6W, but like many have said, I think that is pretty early.

Good luck, I hope all goes well today. I think you are right on the cusp, you may or may not hear a hb today and still go on to have a healthy pregnancy.

Thanks ladies. I am trying to go in with the idea that we won't see one and just hope that we might. I was hoping because my levels were pretty high, over 2000 at 18 days post ovulation, that we might see something today. That may be why he agreed to it because my levels were going up pretty quick. Appointment is at 1:30. I have an appointment him at 2:15 after. I will update this evening. Thanks again for all the advice, thoughts and prayers

My first u/s was 5w6d and we were totally not expecting to see a HB, but were lucky. Definitely seen many posts with girls who didn't see a HB till closer to 7 wks and all was good. Good luck!

My first u/s was at 5w5d, and we saw a heartbeat (in the 90's I think).  I know it can totally go either way that early.  Best of luck to you today!

I had my first ultrasound at 6w2d (we did IVF so I'm certain of the dates) but the baby was measuring 5w6d and we did see a good heartbeat of 113. BUT not everyone sees much at 5w6d, especially if there is any chance you could be off on your dates. And even if you don't see the fetal pole and heartbeat today it really could be just fine.

I just had mine this morning at 6 weeks 1 day, saw the sack and pole but no heartbeat.  The tech said it is too early and that next week when I come back we will be able to see it.

My first u/s was at 6w and we did see a tiny flicker of a HB.  My RE warned me though that it's only a 50/50 chance that early on so don't panic if you don't see one!  Even a few hours can make a big difference!  Good luck!!

My first u/s this pregnancy was around 5w5d-ish and there was no heartbeat. A week later at my follow-up there was one and everything is still ticking away. So even if you don't see one there's no cause to worry. Good luck!!
