Trouble TTC

LAP Tomorrow -Any last minute advice?

So tomorrow I have my laparoscopy scheduled to remove my big cyst on my right ovary. I am a little nervous and scared, but excited at the same time. Oh IF, the mind games you play. If anyone has any last minute tribal knowledge that would be great. I have researched it a bit, so I know to fill the script, wear loose clothes, etc.

Thank you to everyone who has listened to me complain about this the last few weeks and I hope you ladies are having a good week.

  • Mine is next Tuesday, and I asked a similar question earlier today.  From the wealth of knowledge I received, the one that I would have never thought of was to take a pillow in the car with you to put over your stomach on the way home to help with bumps, etc. Also, to have popsicles or hard candy around to help your throat since it will be sore from intubation.  GL!  I hope it all goes great tomorrow!

  • Good luck!! My lap was a breeze I was very happy with everything. I was super nervous before, but it turned out fine. Recovery wasn't bad a lot of rest for 2 days then started to feel back to my old self. I never had surgery before this one after surgery for at least 46 hrs I had to urinate every 1015 minutes. It was crazy! I guess it was from the IV.
    You'll do great!

  • I met with my RE today and she actually gave me a suggestion sheet. It included bringing a pillow, comfy clothes, and buying a laxative early. She gave me my scripts early so I can have them filled for the way home without having to go to a drug store then. She also recommended having pads ready at home and ice pops for my throat. She also suggested a blanket because a bulky coat may feel uncomfortable and slip on shoes. They will give me slipper socks, but I can just slide on shoes over the ugly slipper socks and head home. Sounds like good advise to me. Good luck with your lap!

All very good suggestions. I had mine on January 10 and it was not as bad as what I imagined. I had never had surgery either so I was very nervous.

I suggest taking pads with you or have some at home. I didn't know this and DH was going to have to go get me some after I got home, but luckily for him my mom stopped by and picked some up.

    Good luck OP!
