Too popular?

Our top name right now is Evelyn, but I just found out that it is #10 in our state!  Husband really likes it and is picky about other names.  I do like how I can give her nicknames like Evie and Eva.

I tend to like other feminine names such as Leila, Cecilia, Elise, etc.  Also, her middle name will be Christine.

Do you think Evelyn is too popular and we should perhaps keep others in mind?  Any suggestions if that is the case?

I think Evelyn Christine is a beautiful name!

Evelyn is gaining in popularity but I don't think it's as popular (or will be) as say Olivia.  I know one person who named their baby Evelyn.

It's supposedly very popular where we live too but like PP, I only know one Evelyn. Evelyn Christine is gorgeous.

I don't think I've met an Evelyn yet, but ranks are what they are.

I think that she may have some confusion with other Evie/Ellies out there. I would keep it on your list, but keep your options open. (Not sure how far along you are.)

Oy, this pains me.  I love Evelyn, but it is popping up everywhere. 

I DO love the combo Evelyn Christine, but the recent popularity gain does personally bother me, and seems like it bothers you too.

It's supposed be be gaining popularity.  But the only Evelyn I know is my 50-something aunt.  And I only know of 1 Evie.  I wouldn't worry about it.  My mom works at an elementary school and I've seen far more popular names.

 

I really like Cecilia and Elise.  They would be on my list if I didn't have a good friend and an aunt with those names.

This exactly but I don't know anyone named Evelyn.  LOVE Evelyn and Evelyn Christine is truly lovely!

If you like it and don't mind that it's popular, then use it.  You could also use a variation of the name (like Eva, etc.)

Evelyn was always #1 on my list and I worried about it being a bit too popular, so we went with Evangeline.  Still call her Evie (or you could go with Eve, Eva, etc) but it's a more unique name.  We get a lot of compliments on it.  Just another option!

I don't know any Evelyn's...but if it's become popular in the past few years, I don't hang around a lot of young kids most of the time. 

That being said, I do love the name Leila as well.

I love that name!  We were considering it too.  

I've never seen a baby named Evelyn--the only one I know is about 45.  She's a really great person.

Who cares if it's popular - I think Evelyn Christine is really a great name!  And Evie is adorable.

I love Evelyn and if you do to I would go for it.  I did not know how popular the name Ella was when I gave that name to my daughter.  Even if I had know I would not have changed my mind.  I have not met anybody else with this name ever.  I only know of 2 Evelyns, a 3 year old daughter of a friend and my great Aunt who is 82 years old
