Why do standards have to be so unrealistic? Seriously.

I hate the effing standards. I hate our curriculum more though

Feel blessed that you actually HAVE a curriculum! I'm on my own here with nothing decent to follow (I don't count the craptastic text books as "decent")

Now imagine unrealistic standards (like 88 in a year of super complex ideas that they have no background in) and then place a high stakes test along with it.  Fun times.

See this is just one of the reasons why I hate teaching and don't want to be a teacher anymore!

Me too.  Add that to the fact that I work in a really low income area where it is a miracle if kids come to school much less ready and eager to learn.  I am getting burned out.  I need some kind of change for next year.
