December 2012 Moms

Hooray!

LO STTN last night! We put her down around 11 (and she went down fairly easy- she fussed a few mins but then went to sleep) and didn't make a peep all night. I woke her up about 8:50 when I got up, so she could eat!! I think she's going through a growth spurt, because she's been sleeping more frequently the past week, but whatever it was, I am totally grateful for a night of uninterrupted sleep!!

Re: Hooray!

  • I would give anything for that!! DD still wakes me up every morning an hour and 15 minutes before my alarm. It makes it harder to get up when it does go off.

  • Jealous! We are lucky to get three hours.

  • Last night was the first night we've done a full, arms-in swaddle with DS, and he slept for SEVEN. HOURS. Every other night he's only slept at most 2.5 to 3 hours at a time. I'm praying it's due to the swaddle (since I can duplicate that) and not just a fluke... It was SO NICE to get some sleep for the first time in 6 weeks!!!

This is exactly us for the past two nights.  I finally put her arms back in the swaddle (which we hadn't done in a few weeks), and she's slept 7.5 hours both nights.  PLUS, she was bed-sharing before just to stay sleeping, and Wednesday night she slept in the cradle in our room, last night slept in her crib in the nursery!  We were soooo nervous having her in the nursery, but she fell asleep there and we didn't want to risk moving her and waking her up when we went to bed at 10pm... so glad we didn't since she made it til 3:30 =)

I guess the moral of the story here is *put the arms back in the swaddles, ladies!* (even if you think LO hates it haha)

  • We didn't do anything different last night that we can pinpoint- we fed her, changed her into her pjs, swaddled her, and then held her till she went to sleep (we usually read to her, but she fell asleep too quickly last night). I just hope it happens again tonight since DH doesn't have to get up early for work tomorrow.

Yay!! Our LO also did that last night! DH put her down about 10:45 and did not wake up until about 6:15. I also think our LO is going through another growth spurt b/c she too has been sleeping more frequently. Ever since last week though she has been sleeping pretty much through the night. I'll take whatever she gives me at this point. I almost forgot what it is like to have a night of uninterrupted sleep.

  • Okay I just want to THANK YOU!!! I just found these community boards yesterday and read your post and so we tried the swaddle with the arms wrapped in last night and it worked!!! We also were bed sharing  with her just to make feeding easier on me in the middle of the night and we never got more than 4 hours of sleep. My husband and I always thought that she HATED having her arms put back in the swaddle but we tried it anyways and once we got her to sleep she made it 6 1/2 hours in her bassinet! I freaked out once I realized how long she made it. Thank you so much for the great advice! I have missed sleep so much! Now I just hope it works again tonight! :)
