Random Nevaeh

I realize that Nevaeh is one of the most hated names here, but also noticed that in my 6 months of lurking on this site I haven't seen any bumpies with daughters named Nevaeh.

Perhaps they are just afraid to post so, or put their child's name in there siggy.

Sorry, this post is just a random observation.

Re: Random Nevaeh

  • could be. Or this board could self select for people who agree it's a ridiculous name. Then, no one who would name their daughter Nevaeh would stick around. Perhaps a combo?
  • Idk. I think Nevaeh is more popular with the "16 and pregnant" crowd, and the site doesn't seem to get too many teens passing through.

Plus, if someone was bold enough to name their kid Nevaeh, I don't see them being shy about sharing it.

P.S my neighbor's 2 year old is Nevaeh, and I'm 99% sure her mother is about 18.

  • Guess what I learned yesterday?! I work with someone named Neveah!! I saw it in our editorial team's email inbox. The woman has to be at least 20 ... I didn't know the name Neveah was around back then.

  • Nevaeh is a name that I know exists "in the wild" (since it has been in the top 40 US names for the last 5 years) but I have never met one.  Not even in passing.

The only time I have seen it IRL was when one of my counseling clients (17) gave her daughter that as her middle name.

  • I think there used to be a regular poster on here whose daughter's middle name was Nevaeh...

I know of 2 little Nevaehs. One is the daughter of a former student of mine. She had her when she was 15. The other is the baby sister of one of my former students. His parents were in their 30s when they had and named baby sister.

This is not intended to start a fight on any level but I just wanted to say that as a mom of two that just turned 20 one I have been on here since I was a teen, and two I don't think that name is a "teen" name I think that women of all ages use the name. It just so happened that most people didn't see the name until a teen named her daughter that on 16 and pregnant.

I guess I am just a little sensative to stereo types like that seeing as how I was a teen mom, and I feel that I have pretty good taste in names.

No one would look at someones ticker and call them out on it.

Seriously.  If my Pterodactyl hasn't made anyone insult me, I don't see anyone being berated for admitting to a Neveah.  Although I'm sure a least half the ladies on here have a strong opinion of my kid's name that they're keeping to themselves :)

I'm mostly a lurker (only in the last few months) but always wondered the back story on it. Would you mind sharing it? I always like the stories that go with non-traditional names!

Oh, lol. I thought it was a nickname. I didn't realize it was his real middle name. :)

I respect you and Ryann Olivia's mom (don't know her username right this momemt...maybe ishanej?) because you don't back down and have your reasons for it and you don't go running away from the board when different names come up or the controversy of boy names on girl or unisex names come up.

I agree. I like the stories behind both and they're certainly better than "it's heaven spelled backwards!"

you do have good taste in names....and cute boys! I don't think comments like that are directed at moms like you (regardless of your age) but more directed at immature moms (regardless of age). Immature moms come in all ages. Teen moms have a high percent of immature moms.....but not all are.  If I had had a baby at 16, I likely would have been immature.

This EXACTLY. I know a lot of women my age (I'm young, but not too young - 25) who are far less mature than my 18-year-old sister.
