Purse stolen vent

While running my 3 year old into daycare someone stole my purse out of my car!! Why are people so yucky!!! It's been a mess calling credit card companies and canceling checks, not to mention all the other important stuff I kept in there. Ugggggg!! It was a brand new MK too. Jerks!

  • That is why I never leave the car without locking it. Sorry that's pretty crappy still.

  • No, I didn't lock it. I know, I know but neither do any of the 100 moms out there this morning, and they leave theirs running, I do not. Lesson learned, but totally ruined my day :

  • I'm sorry to hear that. If you have not already done so, please go TODAY and file a police report.

Someone stole my wallet a few years ago, and went on an absolute shopping spree (they waited until I left the subway car, and went to the next station and went nuts). Nothing is more infuriating than watching a surveillance tape of someone swiping every card in your wallet while the cashier sits there looking BORED and waiting for a card to clear.

In any case, the police told me that sometimes card companies won't reimburse you for unauthorized purchases without the police report (when they launch the investigation).

  • I immediately got on the phone and cancelled everything. I also got a police report. The cop was kind of a jerk! He basically said I was stupid and that it was my fault.
  • I live in a small subdivision. We have always left our cars unlocked when we are home (for the 5 years we have lived here). Well, recently someone stole the DVD players out of my car one night, from my own driveway.

Lesson def learned! We bought new ones and our cars are ALWAYS locked!

    Jerks!

  • Yikes! I am so sorry to hear that. Months back my husband was working overnights at the hospital and I had a DJ gig that evening... I left ALL of my stuff in the car that night because I was so tired when I got home... the next morning my neighbor informed me that there was a car that was broken into a few houses down. I was so suprised as we live in a quiet and super safe neighborhood. Thankfully mine wasn't involved but I am now scared to death to leave anything visible in my car. Especially $5,000 worth of DJ equip!
  • That totally sucks.  It happened at our daycare in the summer and the mother had locked the door.  They broke the window.  So now I bring my purse in but it's such a pain because your hands are already fulls with kids and their stuff!

I almost wonder if people purposefully target daycares.  They know you're distracted dropping off kids and stuff.

The daycare director said that's what the police said.  Daycares and schools. Lovely eh?

Lesson learned for me too, I do the same thing, leave the car running like everyone else in the parking lot and run in and out. Not anymore. I'm sorry this happened to you!

  • I hate thieves!!  Did you tell the daycare so they can remind other people to lock the car or bring purse in with them? Someone might be watching the place and know lotsa women leave their stuff in an unlocked car to drop of the kiddos. Just a thought for next time throw your purse in the trunk before you leave the house. Hope your day gets better
  • I got my doppler today!! It totally makes up for my crappy morning! Thanks for all the support and letting me vent!
