how do you know for sure you need one? and does the doctor offer them or do you have to push for one? and will they put them in after 22 weeks or more?
I had a preventative cerclage at 12 weeks. It was suggested by both my OB & peri. I'm not sure when the cut off is to get one, but when my cervix was dilated 1-2 at 27 weeks with my last pregnancy, it was too late. I was on bedrest for 8 weeks before delivering at 35 weeks.

Sometimes you have to push for them because some doctors prefer the wait and see approach. They want to wait until your cervix starts changes. It makes sense in theory but if you've already lost a little one, you typically just want to go ahead and have the cerclage. They couldn't do one for me in my previous pregnancy because I was 4 cm dilated with bulging membranes at 22 weeks.

My story sounds similar to yours. My cervix went from 3.2cm to 1.43cm within 9 days. I had the cerclage put in at close to 18 weeks and I'm 19 weeks right now. It's been a week since my procedure and I still spot, sometimes a filming, mucusy substance in slight pinkinsh/red orangey color. It's never heavy and once I've seen a small tissue in a pinkish color. I have slight pulsations/pain on my left side, too....but not all day. I'm concerned and will call my doctor. Have you experienced any of this?
