getting cerclage out tomorrow

Im getting my cerclage out tomorrow. Just wondering what to expect from those who have had the procedure before. My last one was removed when I went into preterm labor so this is a totally new scenario for me. I'm feeling both nervous and excited!

Re: getting cerclage out tomorrow

  • I'm curious too...I have a TVCIC and it comes out in 3 weeks.  I was told it is done in the hospital and they will try to remove it without doing a spinal but if it is healed over and to hard to remove they do the spinal and remove it while your numb

  • Oh geez, I think my doctors said it is easy and taken out in the office. Either way congrats and good luck. Prayers for a safe delivery.
  • My doc just snipped the stitches and pulled them out in his office. No pain med required. I made it out to be much worse in my head than it was. Now over two weeks later and I'm still pregnant!

  • My high risk Dr will not let my regular Ob remove mine but again mine is a TVCIC which is a little different then the traditional vaginal cerclage in that it is higher up like an abdominal cerclage, so maybe that's why

How did it go?  How did they end up taking it out?

  • My appt was at the hospital, but that's just my ob's offices protocol. I needed no pain meds but I'll have to admit it was a bit uncomfortable. Dr said my cervix had attached to the stitch a lot so it was tricky to get out. Whole procedure took less than 20 mins. I had a little bleeding that stopped quickly, was monitored for 2 hrs then sent home. I've had a lot more BH tonight but dr said that's normal
    For first 48 hrs.

  • You are pretty safe now to deliver, so now we just need to pray for a healthy delivery for you.  Good luck.  Thanks for the update.
