I gained right away with DS and all in all gained 54 lbs! I am 12 weeks and have lost 5 lbs since My first OB visit at 5 weeks! Normal?! Im excited that im not over gaining but kind wondering why not?!
It's perfectly normal to lose a few pounds in first tri, especially if you have severe nausea or are slightly overweight to begin with. Don't worry unless the weight loss is severe or rapid (if you lose 10 pounds in a week, definitely call your doctor). But 5 pounds in 7 weeks sounds fine. Just be glad you're off to a slower start this time!
Up to my last appointment (11 weeks) I hadn't gained any weight. The doctor said she wasn't concerned. A lot of women lose weight in the beginning too due to morning sickness or all around eating healthier foods than they are used to.
From what I've read in my books, the 2nd semester gain is probably most important. 4lbs a month or a pound a week is what I've read is average. I'm sure if you're on the low end of the weight gain your doctor will mention it to you and suggest ways to properly gain weight.
Did you start at a higher weight this time than with your first? If you are already carrying some extra weight it's normal not to gain as much as someone at a healthier weight. I started this pregnancy about 30lbs overweight and have so far lost 4lbs. My eating habits are much better and so I don't expect to gain anywhere near the 50lbs I gained with each of my first 3.
Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!
Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this.
