Cloth Diapering

Another washing question

I posted a couple days ago about having washed my Baby City pocket diapers with Dreft just once. I now have diaper-safe detergent, so how many times should I wash the diapers before I start using them again? I heard it helps absorbency.

Then, no soaking the poopy ones? You just throw them in the wash with the wet ones?

Re: Another washing question

  • Hi,

I just saw your post, I'm still TTC so I don't have an answer for you but I wanted you to know I read it and I'm interested in hearing from the rest of the board too.

  • You don't need to rewash your diapers with your new detergent before using them. Just use them and then wash them with the CD safe stuff going forward.

Multiple washes do not increase absorbency for synthetic fiber diapers so there is no need with Baby City diapers.

Also no need to soak your diapers, even the poo ones. Once you start solids you'll need to somehow get the poo off (spray, scrape or dunk & swish) before it goes in the wash, but still no soaking needed.
