Going down awake and eventually falling asleep

LO is able to put herself to sleep most nights but sometimes takes up to an 1.5 before she actually falls asleep in the crib. She is 5 months old an normally can only stay awake about 1.5 at a time.

Usually I start the routine around 6:15 ish, bedtime is around 7. Usually she is fussing a little bit when we start the routine but is in a good mood by the time she gets in the bath tub, starts to fuss again once she is getting dressed and then after I nurse her and put her in the crib she pops awake and stays awake talking in her crib for a long time. Most times she doesn't cry, just talks and just looks very awake. I know it is great that she can put herself to sleep but she has a number of "false starts" during that time where she is out for 5-10 min and then is awake again. I've also noticed that since this has been going on, about a week now, she has been waking up earlier in the mornings and I'm wondering if it is because she has too much awake down time in her crib.

 So should I be doing something to make sure she is more drowsy when she goes to bed or just let her babble as long as she goes to sleep?

Hmmm, I mean in general it's working, right? Not sure I'd mess with it.

Have you thought about increasing the wake time before bed? DS is up for 3 hours at the end of the day before bedtime.

If its working and she's just in bed babbling, I don't think I'd mess with it either. You might want to try keeping her up longer, but I've heard that it usually doesn't change their wake up time.
