Weight watchers

I just joined weight watchers and I love it!! Who else is on it? I know a few of you ladies are, like daniellelovesjacob.

Anyways, I was just wondering if those on it could share a couple favorite low points snacks or meals that you enjoy? My MIL gave me 3 WW cook books so I'll be going through those. I just want to make sure I don't get burnt out on the same meals.

Oh and funny thing I realized. I get 26 points plus 4 for BFing. I used to eat a subways breakfast sandwich and THREE cookies on the weekend and I counted the points now and realized I was eating my days worth of points for breakfast! Not doing that ever again....well maybe on my splurge day, hehe.

Re: Weight watchers

  • I just re-joined yesterday.  I lost 30 pounds on WW's before I found out I was pregnant with DS, so I know it works really well!

I have found that if I try to get my dairy in as my snacks, that really helps. So for my snack I'll eat cottage cheese and some fruit or plain greek yogurt and some fruit, then one of my dairy GHG (good health guidelines) is covered for the day and I'm full from my snack.  I've also found that for dinner if I cook meat/starch/veggies, the whole family is happy and I can skip the startch entirely and stay within my points allowance.

How did you figure out four points for breastfeeding?  I only see 14 points for entirely breastfeeding or 7 points for BFing with some supplementing as optoins?  I only BF in the evenings and at night, so I think 7 will be too much.

ETA: Cooking Light is great magazine/website to find meal ideas that have low points.

DH and I married 8 years. Mom of three, stepmom of one.

  • I am doing it, but just using the 2010 points system because I still have my old calculator, books, cookbooks etc. That stuff is expensive to buy all over again!!

One really easy, simple thing I end up doing is putting a couple of chicken breasts in the crockpot with a bottle of bbq sauce and after it is cooked you shred it with a fork and can use it for sandwiches, wraps, flat-out pizzas, etc.

I went in for a consultation and we figured the 4 points based on how much I'm BFing. Sounds like we are BFing about the same. I don't pump while at work anymore, I just bf when I get home from work and MOTN feedings but I always have to supplement. I'm in the process of weaning. We figured 4 points was good because we didn't want to under estimate. The way I was eating before, I will definitely lose weight with 30 points a day. I would bet I was eating about 60 to 80 points a day before I joined.

  • Hi, I'm more of a lurker on this board, but wanted to give you a great website.  My mother loves weight watchers and makes so many recipes from this site and everything is fantastic.

I joined the monthly access with meetings and all the calculators and recipes are online and on apps on my phone. I didn't purchase anything extra. The new calculator is only 7.50 dollars. It's 40 a month. But I know a lot of people that lost weight on the old system too so it's not like it won't work for you. Also, my MIL gave me old cookbooks, I'll just recalculate the points with all the info at the bottom.

  • I joined two weeks ago. My weigh day is today so that's what I'm doing tonight when I get home. My biggest realization was that a muffin was 13 points. That's half my daily points!! I was always snacking on stuff before cuz I always felt hungry and now in these two weeks I've already stopped constantly eating. The best way was to eat a variety if breakfast cuz u was always eating the same thing every morning. My favorite is a feta tomato scramble. Feta cheese scrambled with an egg and diced tomatoes with a slice if whole wheat toast. I think the point total was 5 or 6. Add an apple or banana and you still have 5 or 6 points and you feel full!
  • Yay for WW! I started weight watchers online last week. I have had success with it in the past. Chips and salsa is one of my favorite snacks, I think it's like 3 or 4 points for 17 chips and 2T. of salsa. Also almonds are pretty good too.
I was going to recommend skinnytaste.com as well. She lists all the points and has tons of recipes. Plus if you sign up on her blog or like her on FB you get a recipe everyday. I have made a lot of her stuff and its yummy.

I feel like I spent a fortune the last time I did it. And I lost 20 lbs then, so I feel like it worked for me then so it will work for me now, KWIM?

Good for you on the previous weight loss! I would feel the same way if I spent all that money!

  • I'm going to sign up next week! I'm just going to do it online and not meetings! I lost 20 lbs before my wedding it does work and is super easy to follow! Good luck! A great recipe I use for breafast is a slushie frozen bananas and strawberries and a thing of diet 7 up. It's 0 pts and very filling it's a great snack as well!

Eta: just blend in blender, forgot that part!

  • WW is great! I lost 57lbs on it before I got married. All we pretty much eat is WW recipes, I just need to start counting points again. Good luck!
  • imageMedhp00:
    I just joined this week. I've done WW before and really love how easy it is to track points. I'm a little confused with the way they calculate the points plus and not sure about the weekly point allowance. I guess I never used those before and with the points plus calculator you have to know carbs and protein and fat where before you only had to plug in calories, fiber, and fat to calculate points. Do you use your "weekly points"?nbsp;I am shocked with how many points I get for BFing! I'm still getting used to my new way of eating so I don't know what my favorite low point snacks are yet.It really puts it into perspective when you start looking at points and realize how many you may have been eating and if it's worth it anymore. I'm too hungry to spend my points on foods or drinks that are a lot of points lol.nbsp;

The new system takes Into account that protein is good for you and to limit carbs, not base everything on calories. I think it's evaluated a more accurate way to look at food and the quality if food, not calories. It also does zero points for fruits and veggies so people are encouraged to eat fruits and veggies rather than limit them like before. This is all just my take on what I've been told.

I plan to use my extra points all in one day, as a splurge day. I know this has worked for others. They didn't count points that day and just ate how they wanted. I just joined so I haven't had a splurge day but whenever I crave something I want I just think about how I can have it on Saturday if I want. We'll see how that goes, I'll try it that way for a month and assess my weightloss for that month.

  • I've been thinking about joing ... but I think I would only do it online.  I don't think I have time to go to meeting.

Anyone's DH's doing it with them?  Both DH and I are looking for something to help us loose weight.  He's into Scottish Highland Games, so he does alot of heavy lifting.  In the past when he has lost weight he also lost muscle and strnght, so this is something that he struggles with when trying to loose weight!

  • Yikes ... $20 a month isn't too bad, but if DH and I both do it, that's $40 a month.  That's more than we pay for our gym memberships ($10 per month per person at Planet Fitness).  We're on a tight buget!  But I really need to loose this weight!
