Induction Scheduled

Had my 38 wk appointment today. Induction (due to GD) scheduled for next Wed. Jan 23.

Excited and nervous and scared an all those other things that go along with being a FTM. Super excited to be rid of the GD! Mostly can't believe LO will be here within the week! 2.5-3cm dilated and 50% effaced at appointment today so hoping I'll go on my own before Wed. but not stressed either way.

Debating having my membranes stripped. She offered today but I was too on the fence to have her do it. I've heard it can be really uncomfortable and the internal check was fairly uncomfortable as it was. I had cramps for a couple hours after the check. Also, my doctor didn't/doesn't think the membrane stripping is too likely to send me into labor. I'm really not sure if I should email her and have her do it on Tues. or not. Especially since I am ok with being induced, especially knowing that my cervix is favorable.

I didn't find the membrane strip much worse than an internal.  My thought was if I was facing induction anyway I might as well try it.  I started contractions within 24 hours, but may have anyway.

I never had my membranes swept but had two successful inductions at much less favorable conditions than yours. It's really not so bad, especially since you will probably get to skip a cervical ripener and all that extra waiting G ood luck!

With DS #1, I had high BP and was induced on my due date. The day before, I was 2cm, 50%. My doc did a membrane sweep. I was crampy all day. When I went in the next morning for my induction, I was 3cm, 80% and was having contractions every 5 min or so (I had no idea). They said I was in very early labor. My doctor decided to go ahead with the pitocin anyway because he didn't want me in labor for a really long time because of my BPs. I started pitocin at 7am, had DS at 1231pm. I couldn't believe how fast it went! I have no idea if the membrane sweep had anything to do with it, but I'm sure it didn't hurt progress.

They stripped mine with DD and it was not to pleasent, if they aren't making you I wouldn't do it.
