Re: Top Baby Names 2013
Edited stupid autocorrect
Eithne? How do you even pronounce this?
Sookie? This is too close to Snooki for me ....
Betty? Hehe, total old lady name.
Millie? No like.
My poor daughter's name is still on there. it's funny because the year she was born, her name want on the top 10. I had never met an Emma before in my life. Always Emily. Then in 2002, the Friends baby was named Emma. That name has been on the top ten lists since! My daughter was born in 2003. Luckily, she hasn't been in class with any other Emma. We occasionally run into other kids on the playground with the same name, but not as often as I thought we would.
Emma Kate - born 10.16.03 @ 29 weeks, weighed 1lb 13oz and 13.5" long.

"If you're still my small babe
or you're all the way grown,
my promise to you
is you're never alone.
You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
wherever you are."
Son of a biitch!!!! Yes and of course it's #1...If we have a girl her name is going to be Isabella Sadie...Sadie is my 94 yr old grandmothers name so I wanted an Italian first name to go with it. Oh well.
Sookie is the girl on True Blood.
I know, right?? I think it said Sookie was one of the most searched names, but still who names their baby Sookie?

Not me! I mean I love the show but I would never name my child after one of the stars on True Blood. I could never hear the name Sookie without thinking of Sookie Stackhouse....LOL...Aweful
Bertie???? Really??????
I'm just going to ignore the Sookie thing. Makes me feel better about humanity that way.

I am shocked Penelope is not up there. The Karsashians (sp?) screwed my thoughts on her being the only Penelope in her class.

Charlotte Hannah -born 8/13/13.
Betty was on my list of girl names- it's family name (so is Millie). Old lady names are making a comeback
And when is Aiden going to drop in popularity? It's been at least 8 years now on the top 10.
Our girl choice, Emma, had dropped to #8.....
Sookie? Really....
D&C: 03/08/12 Waited for AF for 146 long days!

BFP #2 12/8/12, EDD 08/21/13 Our rainbow arrived 08/24/13!
Charlotte, Ann and Liam are all on our shortlist of names.
I don't need my kid to be the only one, but I don't want them to be the modern equivalent of Jennifer or Jason.
Im a preschool teacher and seriously every other kid is named Isabella/bella
You can thank Twilight for the Isabella popularity.
Eithne? How is that pronounced?
Hey, at least Nevaeh isn't on the list
We aren't sharing either...and I agree, some of the names on the list are awful!

Sookie? I find that hard to believe, haha.
I really like Liam for a boy, but I don't like that it's so popular.
This is funny you posted this, my DH sent me this last night. Jacob, Bella, and Sookie. Yay.
I actually have an older friend named Millie. I love her, but I never thought I'd see the day when someone wanted to name their kid Millicent!
I'm liking Eleanor a lot lately (for girls). While it wasn't technically on the list, it was meantioned in the Old Lady names area, as long version of Ella. This makes me nervous. The highest up it has ever been on any list is 150, so I thought we were in the clear...
I'm also a teacher (8th grade) and the Isabellas/Bellas are just starting, but for God's sake, I can't even believe the real Emma "trend" hasn't even started yet. My students this year were born in 1999. I have been teaching for 7 years. I kid you not, I have taught at least 50 Emmas. I can't even imagine what it will be like by the time the 2002 Emma's come along. I will be able to stop learning their names and just guess that it is probably Emma!
Agreed, I was Sara H. my whole life and HATED it.
Nope. And happy to see DD's name still not on there.
The only one close was Ellie, since we are considering Eleanor (Nora).
Isabella has been a hit for at least 6 years, it was high up when I was pregnant with my first.
i don't really have any names in mind, but I like the old names, Millie and Eleanor.
Did this make anyone else scratch their head?
" One of readers' top searches was for one-syllable baby names, meaning new parents may be giving formal names the boot; think Ted instead of Theodore (Greek, gift of God) and Andy in lieu of Andrew (Greek, strong and manly)."
Go with Julia! Go with Julia! EXCELLENT CHOICE!

FTR: Guess what my name is?
Thanks for sharing!
I'm bummed to see how many on this thread alone are considering Eleanor... I think it is officially off my list!
Yeah they should have done the clap test like the four year olds do. Andy
My daughter's nickname is on there (Ellie). Ah well. I love it. Her actual name is still fairly uncommon (Eliana).
We picked a pretty uncommon name for my son, a random name we found in a baby name book: Jaron.
We have loved that it was original, yet common sounding too at the same time.
