cold hands

So I'm freezing my kid apparently.  At night, I put her in a onesie, and some sort of jammies over it.  Whether it be cotton sleeper, a sleeper gown, fleece sleep & play.  Her arms and legs are all covered, and usually her feet as well.  Thing is, her hands and face are so stinking cold the next morning!  I have put socks on her hands, but 1) she tends to sleep with her hands up by her face, and that thick of a fabric on her hands worries me a bit.  2) she pulls them off in the middle of the night about half the time.  Even the sleepers with the mitten cuffs don't do much.

Her core is completely warm, even to the point of being too warm some nights.  Just her hands and face freeze.  Fix it for me, kthx! :D

Re: cold hands

  • I noticed this exact thing happening to my lo. We purchased a space heater that regulates the temperature in the room. We keep her room at 73F which seems to be warm enough for her hands and face. She sleeps in a one piece pajama and a blanket lined rnp

I'm pretty sure their circulation is still developing. DD has pretty cold hands but it doesn't seem to bother her.

This. I think as long as their core is warm, you're good.

Yup! I was concerned and brought it up to the pedi. She said it was completely normal. Their feet will be cold too.

  • I worry about this same thing but it doesnt seem to bother B at all. Poor thing wakes up with a sweaty back almost every morning and that is with just a onesie on. We keep our house at 67 or 68.

  • Ella's hands are usually cold but tend to warm up when she falls asleep..like pp's have said, probably a circulation thing.

MIL is that you?!? ;] She is a human heater just like her daddy. She doesn't wear a hat because her head is always hot. During the day around the house, I don't put socks on her. If we go anywhere, she absolutely wears socks. At night, she has footie jammies. When I layer her up like everyone says I should, she cries and sweats and is miserable.

ETA: I should clarify. If we are outside for any extended period of time, yes, she is in a snowsuit. But walking from house to prewarmed truck then to a building with a heater? Her regular clothes and a blanket does just fine.

Sounds like my DD, she sweats like a little piggy. So does DH.
