Between restless legs and the cramping I don't get much sleep (not to mention having to pee all the time an aching back and hips). I try to flex my feet as soon as I start to feel it coming on, I have only had a few times that I wasn't able to stop the cramping that way.
Yes!! It's from poor circulation, dehydration, or swelling. You can try to make sure your hydrated, elevate your feet, warm baths, and bananas. None of this stuff have worked for me. I sleep on average of 4 hours a day from the pain. Between my hips and leg cramping I dont know what else to try, I hope you feel better flex and stretch if its just your calves. That usually helps hope you feel better.
Flex your toes UP, if you point them it makes it worse... Try drinking more milk, or eating a banana or two sometimes helps cut back on them. I find that having a warm bath in Epsom Salt really eases them off for a few days as well...oh and make sure you drink lots of water of course! And stretching before bed helps too!
Good Luck!

Count me in on this unfortunate side effect also. If I even dare try to stretch my legs in bed I will get a cramp, or almost a cramp, and as PP said flex your foot back towards you, pointing toes will make it worse. When I do get a full cramp it leaves me sore for a day or two, which only makes the cramps worse!
I get leg cramps everytime I try to stretch my leg in the morning or night! Nothing really helps I usually end up massaging them (on days I can reach) but most of the time I end up like...
Yep, I've been getting them off and on this whole pregnancy, and recently they are making another comeback. This morning before I got out of bed, I had cramps in both calves at the same time and it hurt like crazy! The only thing that helps me is either flexing my toes back towards my body, or putting pressure on my legs- basically, I press my feet into the bed like I'm going to stand up until the pain goes away.
