Trouble TTC

First RE appointment today (long)

A lot of busy RE offices today!

I met RE today. Her practice is limited to treatment of resistant endometriosis and reproductive endocrinology, but she is affiliated with a major university medical center. I felt immediately at ease with her and we went over my history, labs, HSG result, DH's SA result, etc. She told me that we fell into the dreaded "Unexplained" category but she is optimistic for us.

After lengthy discussion, we agreed that I will be scheduled for a laparoscopy next week so she can check and see if I have any endometriosis or adhesions. She explained that because I had been on BCP until Sept 2010, then conceived twice in 2011 and 0 times in 2012, she believes that my endometriosis may have been coming back gradually. She thought that the pill probably suppressed any flare ups for the 10 years that I took it, but now that I've been off awhile, it could be back. Since my sister has such extensive endo and I have some symptoms, I guess she is probably accurate in her thinking.

I did not feel like she pushed for the surgery; in fact, I felt like she left it up to me. She said that she wanted me to feel most comfortable and in charge of my own plan. She said if I did not want surgery, that she would recommend 3 cycles of Clomid with TI, then surgery at that point. Then she said if none of that works,  3 cycles of Clomid + injections + IUI, then move onto IVF.

I sort of expected this from reading all of the other RE visit posts, so I wasn't blind sighted by any of this. I just want to get this part over with. I've had a laparoscopy before (12 years ago with first endometriosis diagnosis!) and I figure I will recover again. I know there are risks but I just want to face them, get this over with, and get moving on to treatments and hopefully a baby in our near future.
