I am 8 weeks 4 days and I am nauseous all day and generally vomit 2-3 times a day for the past week. My husband has been out of town so I've been on my own with two kids, one of which is teething so I'm not getting much sleep. How do I know if I am extremely exhausted from dehydration and should call the doctor? I'm just not sure if it is the morning sickness or the fact that I'm chasing after two kids while sick that is leaving me completely worn out. I can hardly get off the couch today and feel so sick. Thanks for any advice!
Re: When to call about m/s?
The easiest way to tell if you're getting dehydrated (other than the color of your urine) is to take your pulse. It should be around 80 beats per minute (20 beats per 15 seconds, so you don't have to count for a whole minute). When you're dehydrated your pulse will be closer to 100 beats per minute.
If you're worried about keeping down fluid, take very tiny, tiny sips of water/Gatorade every 5-10 minutes (you'll feel stupid because you're taking such small sips). But that amount of fluid shouldn't upset your stomach, and your body is good about absorbing fluids quickly.
I think its up to you, whenever you feel you've reached your limit. If it were me, I'd have already called!

Even if you're not dehydrated, if your morning sickness is leaving you unable to function, I would call and ask if your doctor can see you about it/is willing to give you a zofran prescription or talk about other treatment options.
(FWIW, zofran was no miracle drug for me, but it did at least take the edge off for my worst late-afternoon/early evening hours of nausea).
I always know when I need to start getting an iv. My urine gets very dark, I only pee 2 or 3 times a day, my mouth is super dry, and my fatigue ramps up to Ican'tmoveoffthecouch levels.
If you think you might be dehydrated, go! It is dangerous. Plus, the more dehydrated you get, the more nauseous you can get.
I hope you feel better soon!

I'm so glad it's helping! Hopefully once 2nd tri comes around you won't need the zofran anymore.
