Get on the mailing list for Target, Walmart Babies R Us, CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and Bed Bath and Beyond/Buy Buy Baby. Start collecting coupons when its closer to due date since coupons expire (other than bed bath beyond). All those places will have essentials. Also, you might want to sign up to couponmom.com. That website lets you know of all the sales are happening at national chain stores.
Also, check out on facebook if there are any swap and sell groups in your area for baby items. People post both new and used items on there.
I like the Krazy Coupon Lady (thekrazycouponlady.com), she blogs about deals on all sorts of stuff but you can just pay attention to the baby-related deals.
Also, Target has Daily Deals on their website every day and a lot of them are baby products. You just have to remember to check. Target also puts stuff on clearance all the same, so keep an eye on the clearance section. They're having a big baby clearance right now.
For coupons, some stores let you print coupons out from the website (like Target), and for other stores/brands it's a good idea to sign up for the emails.
I subscribe to several sites. I suggest making a list of what you want and watch prices. One you know close to the rock bottom sale price will be you know if its a deal or not. Babysavers.com is one that has diaper, wipes and formula deals weekly.

Baby Cheapskate (www.babycheapskate.com) is another good one.
