I made mine out of flannel and terrycloth. I cut up receiving blankets since we got a bajillion of them, and used old towels we were getting ready to trash. They have lasted over 2 years and are still going strong!
Maybe a stupid question, do you wet these as you use to remove poo and skin stains??

I made some of my wipes out of flannel and they work great! I just spray dds butt with water and with the wipes, it easily cleans the worst of the messes! I then throw the wipe with diap in the liner bag. No cleaning before hitting the wash is needed. Her wipes haven't stained at all.
We hadn't planned on this but when DD has the worst rash of all time last week, we mostly just sprayed her off with the duvet, but when we needed wipes - we used some cheapo flat diapers with a little bit of water. It didn't hurt her like the wipes did and I could just throw it in the wet bag. For baby #2, I think we'll definitely go the cloth wipe route - it's not any extra work and just about any cotton rag will do!
Spin off question:
How many wipes should you have if you wash EOD?
Also, can you just cut flannel wipes with pinking shears [sp] to avoid fraying and hours of hemming?
