A little nervous

I just finished my first OB appointment. He listened for the heartbeat and couldn't find it. So now I'm waiting for ultrasound. I'm terrified that something is wrong. He said it might just be too early, but I'm almost positive it's not. Keep fingers crossed for me...

9 weeks is REALLY early to hear a heartbeat via doppler. My clinic won't even try until 12 weeks.

I'm keeping my FX that you get to see your sweet wiggly little bean with an excellent heart beat!

ETA: I didn't even find the heartbeat on my home doppler until 11w1d after having tried for a week and a half before.

FX for you, but I'm with the PP- it's too early to use the doppler. My dr won't try that early, they just go straight to u/s before 12 weeks.

Yep this. At my appointment they did another ultrasound. They didn't even bother with a doppler yet.

Thanks guys for the good thoughts... I just saw the wiggly bean, healthy and happy. I'm still not sure why he wanted to do it immediately like that that's what scared me so much. But all is well and I'm sitting in his office waiting for what he has to say.

i don't remember them being able to use the doppler to hear the heartbeat that early either. this time around i saw/heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks but only because we had an ultrasound. try not to stress just yet! ::hugs::

YAY!!! So glad!

Usually just for your peace of mind. My Dr also does u/s right away to reassure you if the doppler doesn't find it right away. Be thankful he didn't just send you away as others have had done :

Glad you saw baby!

when I went in at 8 weeks, I asked my o.b.if we could hear the heart beat and he refused because he said we wouldn't be able to hear anything until 10-12 weeks! I was disappointed because I saw other ladies were able to hear their babies at their first appointments. But in retrospect, I'm glad he didn't cuz, like you, I would have been freaked if he didn't find the heartbeat.

Thanks again ladies. I know it's early... I think I got lucky last time because he was able to hear it, but not this baby. But bean was wiggling all over the place, so it's all good.
