2 soft markers for Down's

I had a sono today because they couldn't see the 4 chambers of the heart on my a/s. They found echogenic focus in the heart, and left hydronephrosis. They are both soft markers for DS. I did the quad screen, and it was negative. My OB is pretty certain baby is fine, but is sending me to a perinatalogist for a more detailed u/s. I was fine all day. Now I tried to go to bed, and I'm a wreck. I know chances are slim that the baby has DS, but I'm so worried. All these different things keep popping into my head. Any good vibes, t/p appreciated. My 1st DS had one on his heart and it went away in a later ultrasound. He is 3 yrs old now, and healthy. Sending good vibes your way that the markers are nothing!

Well, try to stay positive and keep your head up. It could be nothing. With that said, either way, I'm sure you'll love your baby just the same! Good luck to you, and I will keep you in my thoughts. Keep us posted!

Thanks ladies. I know we will be ok, whatever happens.This little boy will be a blessing and a wonderful addition to our family. I just did not expect to hear this today. I was so nervous at the a/s, and everything looked good. So this was quite a surprise.

Thoughts and Prayers that all will be ok. Maybe the peri can do one of the really accurate tests like materniti21 or the other one? Don't know if those can be done at any time during pregnancy.

My SIL is pregnant and they discovered a "bright spot" on her baby's heart, is how she described it, which is a soft marker for DS. The OB wasn't even going to tell my SIL because the radiologist told her it happens all the time and it's like a "birthmark" but is nothing to worry about, especially when all the other tests came back fine. Hopefully it's a similar thing for you.

I hope your baby is fine. My mom had a strong marker with an amnio pointing to Downs when I was cooking, and I came out fine.

Definitely try to stay positive. These things are not uncommon and often amount to nothing. I have no idea if we're past the point where you can have a Harmony or MaterniT21 test, but both a blood tests that screen for things like Downs and are 99% accurate (more so than the quad screenings). If a test is available to you, it might help to ease your mind so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.
