So at work they have been bringing in lunch for everyone, everyday.. Except those with allergies. I have celiac, and I really don't expect them to get me something everyday, or go out of their way. But, when they first announced they were doing it I responded and asked if there would be anything for those who have celiac. The reply was the list of places they choose from, turns out I could get something GF at many places. So I asked if me, and the others with celiac, could get something from a prospective GF place and they said no.
I'm bothered because they're doing it to reward EVERYONE's hard work... And to encourage we skip lunch for OT.. I work just as hard as everyone else and I'd like to get a little OT, but can't since I have to click out to prepare my food.
Am I overreacting? What would you do?
Re: Celiac vent..
Are they suggesting you don't eat at all, or does everyone get to not clock out for lunch because it's being brought to them? I would be bothered, but not too much. If you aren't the only one with celiac though, then I don't see why they couldn't accommodate you all. You could always ask if you can make your lunch without clocking out.
I work from home now, but worked in the office for years. I went to my company's christmas party, and there were two other ladies who have to eat GF at my table, plus a few vegetarians with special plates, yet they had somehow "forgotten" to get me a GF plate, so I was stuck eating green beans and salad. I feel like the event's organizer was going out of her way to make me feel unwanted since she fought to not have me invited to begin with b/c I work from home. My direct supervisor went over her head to the CEO to have me invited, but didn't forward me the email asking about dietary restrictions (and most people in the office know I am GF, event organizer included).
