Really? A house in our area has red, pink and purple lights all over the outside. I know it's not Christmas leftovers b/c I remember their home being done in all green. I did not know people put lights up for Valentine's Day and it's over a month away too. I think they need a hobby. Just kidding. I'm not judging. I have just never seen this before.
Is this a new trend?
Re: Valentine's Day lights?
Ah. So they are just providing a service to the neighborhood. They are such good citizens.
I do love my lights, but once a year is enough for me. It wouldn't be as fun if I did it for every holiday.
maybe if I just did red lights, I could leave them up all year long. Red is partially patriotic for President's Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Veteran's Day, then Valentine's Day, blood red for Halloween and then Christmas!
That's dedication to exterior illumination.
You could do a red light outline of the house, and just add inflatable figures to match whatever holiday?
I was kidding. Christmas only for me;)
We go pink lights for DD's bedroom. She picked them out at Christmas time. Maybe I'll hang them back up in there for Valentine's Day.
Oh geez. I never said it was a waste of energy, just that I never saw a house full of outdoor lights for Valentine's Day. I decorate indoors for all of the holidays.
Growing up one of the houses in our neighborhood, decorated for EVERY holiday. They had red and white lights up and inflatable hearts in the yard. As a kid, I always liked it, but I could see as an adult maybe being annoyed if it was my neighbor.
We put up decorations for Valentine's Day, but no lights outside. Just a few decorations inside and then the window clings on the front window (DS loves those things!).
Crud. I forgot our gel clings were ruined last year. The kids love sticking them up on the patio door. I'm glad you mentioned it or I would have forgot to put them on my shopping list.
Sorry...I didn't quote...it wasn't you who said that. Someone else did.
Gotcha. I didn't want anyone to take my post the wrong way. I really don't care how or when anyone decorates. All in good fun:)
When I said waste of energy, I meant literally the electricity, not the physical act of doing it. If it's something you do as a family, cool, but Christmas lights are flucking expensive! I Like to have holiday towels and figurines, etc, but the whole light thing is too much.
I went back and reread. I took what you said as a waste of electrical energy.
One house in our neighborhood at Valentine's Day ALWAYS has a red heart in lights. I remember asking my parents about it years ago--they said the neighborhood had a heart transplant and that is why they always put the heart lights up.
