DS had viral gastroenteritis around xmas, never diarrhea just very lose stools. He's been twice to the Pedi who told us he's fine, it's viral, it will pass. Which I am fine with because I rather not give him medicine, but I was a little disappointed he didn't even suggested yogurt or kefir. He explained that it's not the intestinal flora but rather the intestine walls and it takes time to heal. Well, it's been over two weeks and DS keeps having lose stools many times a day, boy has this tested my commitment to CDing!
Are there any natural options to help repair GI health?
Re: Natural options for GI health?
I mostly lurk here, but I hope this helps.
To slow down the loose stool activated charcoal is safe. To take care of inflamed GI slippery elm and white oak bark are great and safe for children. If you can't find liquids open up capsules and hide them in food or liquid. Keeping up with probiotics is also recommended.

Have you looked into eliminating gluten? he could have a gluten sensitivity even though nothing shows up on tests. gluten can also cause leaky gut syndrome. The best way to heal the gut is through the gaps diet.
