We (well, I say 'we' because I am supposed to, but he has been kicked off the baby naming committee because he sucks at it...) anyways.. We are naming her Presley. I need help/opinions on the middle name though. I have it narrowed down to 3, but can't make up my mind.
Presley Faith
Presley Ann
Presley Rae
Thoughts??
Re: Presley ____???
I wouldn't chose any of the names. But if I had to, I would use Faith as a middle name.
I dont like any of them. Rae is the best choice
Yeah this.
My goofy little blog
well, seeing as his pick for her was Novalee.. i'm really okay with my decision. so thanks!
Nova Lee? Nova is not bad at all, and much better than Presley especially for a girl.
Just don't mash the name "Novalee?" unnecessary mashing.

Spontaneous pregnancy #5= Baby #3 is a BOY!!!
thank you!
I like Presley BECAUSE it's a little different. So she's not just another Amanda, Jennifer, Emma, etc.. among 5 others in her classroom(s).
It's different but not crazy different. I like when kids have names that standout a little.
Presley is nms, and like a PP, I also initially thought it was going to be for a boy.
But that is besides the point. I don't think it's fair for you to decide that your DH doesn't get an opinion because you don't like the name he picked. If you can't agree on his choice or Presley, I think they should both be off the table and you should start from scratch. This child is just as much your DH's as it is yours. I'd be pissed if my DH kicked me off the "naming committee" and didn't allow me a say in naming OUR child. Just my two cents.

It's not that different. It's just another example of the "random last name for a first name" trend. Also, Rae just sounds country to me - so whether or not that's something you are looking for.
Um, you're kicking your husband off the naming commitee? Grow up, you're a married couple that needs to work together. You sound like a spoiled brat who's having a fit because you're not getting your way. If you don't like Novalee, and he doesn't like Presley, start over and find something you both like. Naming your child should be a joint decision. Those are my thoughts on that.
I personally don't like Presley. It's really not that different. It's been climbing the charts in the last 10 years. It used to be #809 in 2001, and in 2011 it was #227 nationally. If I HAD to pick a fn/mn combo, I'd go with Presley Ann.

DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.

It may not be in the top ten but it's still going to be very dated since you are going with one of the most popular trends right now- random last names as first names.
If you BOTH decide you love it, I'd ditto PP's and do a very feminine middle name, like Faith. But for real, get on the same page with your husband. Mine came up with a few atrocities (and I'm sure he thought I did too) but in the end we decided on one we love together.
"Are your parents Elvis fans????" Yeah, she's gonna hear that A LOT. Can you deal with that??
Any feminine sounding mn will probably work well with Presley. But I think some reconsideration on the FN is in order here.
On the contrary, if you named her Amanda or Jennifer she probably would be the only on in her class. Presley isn't really that different, I see it on here often unfortunately. It will be just as trendy and dated as Jennifer, Heather, or Amanda.
wow. wasn't expecting all that.
first i would like to say that i think a lot of you read way too much into my opening sentence. i meant that jokingly, but nice to know so many of you jumped the gun and assume i'm a crappy spouse. For the record I did consult with him on the names. He is okay with Presley. I didn't and am not just going behind his back on naming the baby. I'm not that big of a witch.
Also, I realize that I did ask for thoughts... but I was aiming that towards the middle name decision. Hence the sentence, "I need help/opinions on the MIDDLE NAME". I don't remember anywhere in my post asking for rude or negative comments about her first name.
I sincerely hope you are teaching your own children "if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all". Maybe that way they won't grow up to be such bitties as some of you. I thought I had hit the jackpot of finding a good website to join during my pregnancy but now am not so sure. Thank you all for such a warm welcome.
The name is bad no matter what middle name you pu with it.
It is different so different that her nn may end up being elvis, i bet she will like that!
This.
If you're set on Presley, Presley Nova could be cute...and definitely more feminine.
You are the only one who caught onto that. That is exactly where he picked it from. He loves that movie, lol

Presley is a surname and male sounding at that. It is trendy. You are using something that will be as dated for her generation as Jennifer is for ours. It isn't unique.
That said, I don't think everyone overreacted to what you said about your H. He should be 100% involved and if he doesn't like it, it should be off the table, as should Novalee since you don't like it.
And playing the "your poor children, you are bad moms" card and "I guess I won't stick around on the bump anymore!" card is lame. The responses weren't that bad, it's just that the name is.
