Haven't posted on here in a while!
Found out I am GBS positive, ugh. Of course that means it's quite important I get to the hospital ASAP if I feel like I am leaking fluid. I'm really scared that I'm going to be a "trickle-er" and not be able to tell that I'm leaking. I wear a pad every day now because I've been trickling something else... pee!
STMs - is it pretty obvious if you're leaking? Is it easy to tell AF from pee?? Obviously this won't be a big deal if I have a big gush of AF or if I don't have PROM at all, but I'm really concerned about this, especially because of the GBS and wanting to minimize exposure to baby. Any advice or reassurance would be appreciated!
Re: A little freaked (TMI)
I asked this question upon seeing my midwife today, as this is my first baby. Since I lost my mucus plug I was worried I wasn't sure if I would notice my water breaking in the near future. I was concerned that I would leak instead of gush for some reason.
She stated that if your water leaks instead of coming out in a gush, it will keep trickling out.
She then said if you think you started leaking, to sit or lay on your side for a minute, then stand up, and if it keeps trickling to call and come in.
If you're peeing yourself it won't don't that.
Hope this helps.
I had a huge gush followed by lots of little gushes. Contractions also started soon after my water broke.
I took a shower after my water broke. When I turned the water off, I was still leaking fluid. It was a little milky, not clear.
From what I understand, spontaneous water breaking without warning, like what happened with my first, is unusual so hopefully you won't have to worry about it.
I have definitely already sniffed my panties to see if fluid was pee or not, so I appreciate the tip
