Question!

This is my first pregnancy, so I'm unsure what is normal and what's not.
I am 10 weeks pregnant today, and last night I started having some brown discharge along with some mild cramping. I had this once before and I went to the ER and they said it was normal not to worry about it. It's back and I'm worried. Has anyone else been having this problem? And what are the causes?

Re: Question!

  • I haven't had that yet but the cramping is normal because you're body is stretching. The discharge I would research but I know it's not serious. This is my first pregnancy too. Just don't worry unless you have major pain and bleeding.

  • These can both be totally normal, but if you're feeling unsure just call your OB to double check. They will usually give you an appt if you really want to be checked out!
  • I would call your OB and skip the ER from here on out unless you're bleeding heavily or in a lot of pain.

Brown spotting can be completely normal or it could be a sign of an impending miscarriage. If you're concerned call your OB so they can put your fears to rest.

    Best of luck!

  • I had brown spotting for about a week and I was very nervous!  I agree with pp, give your OB a call...hopefully they can help you feel less anxiety about it!  Even though many times spotting is "normal" it's super scary!

  • I had brown spotting for a week too. Went to my OB and baby was fine. Brown spotting is normal in early pregnancy so I wouldn't worry about it unless it's red blood. If it bothers you call them. It will ease your mind!
