Gender reveal ideas

I know, I know, there was a post earlier. I don't want a gender reveal party. I just thought it'd be cute to let everyone know in a cute way. The only way I can think of is cupcakes with the icing colored in pink or blue. But I want something a little cooler than that but I can't think of anything. Any ideas?

Re: Gender reveal ideas

  • How are you going to announce?  In person? Or in a picture? etc?

I was considering having a shirt made for my daughter with something about the gender to announce to all friends and family over facebook.  My sorority sister did it with her daughter and some chalk boards ... really cute ... it was like a photo booth sequence.

  • I wanted to do it in person. And tell everyone not to say anything on Facebook till I do. I want to go just to the close families houses and let them know individually.
  • Pinterest has some pretty awesome ideas:

    1) Fill a chinese lantern with gender-colored confetti (held in by a piece of paper over the bottom hole, w/ a string attached). Pull during the party to display what color paper falls down, (cute!)

    (2) Scratch off cards for guests (you can get them on Etsy).

  • I would suggest looking on Pinterest, then!  There's a whole host of awesome ideas for that kind of thing!  :)  Good luck.

  • If you're going the cupcake route I would fill the inside with pink or blue frosting, not top it with the color. Builds the suspense more and nobody will know until they bite into it.

  • You're planning early.

  • I looke on Pinterest. And I know it's early but If I have to order something from the Internet I want time for it to ship. I'm willing to buy boy and girl items then use whichever one i need. I don't have alot of relatives that I'm going to tell in person so cost isn't an issue. I am a planner when it comes to things like this.

You need 10-13 weeks to ship? LOL

  • No I need that time to plan. Then decide what I want to do and do it. Nice try but I am not looking for someone to comment just to be rude.
  • For DD, we found out at our 20 week u/s that we were having a girl.  I made a cake (grandmother's recipe) and used red food coloring to turn it a pink color.  Then I iced the cake.  We had our family over for dinner (DH's parents and grandparents live in town, and my parents were visiting for the weekend).  We served the cake after dinner and my mom asked why the inside was a different color (normally green because it is a mint cake).  That's when we shared the "it's a girl" news!
  • That's a cute idea! I'd have to make at least two cakes though lol.

Oh geez! No one was being rude.

FWIW, if you are planning on throwing some sort of party it is weird for you to know the sex before your guests.

  • I apologize. I have about ha enough with everyone on this forum getting attacked for not knowing something. Not saying you did it, I just see it alot and have been attacked myself. I want to know because I can not hide something from myself. I would go nuts and say screw this! Lol

If you can't wait, you should just do an announcement instead of a party.

I agree!! I have seen so much attacking on this forum it makes me sick! Check out the my pregnancy app/birth club the woman seem to be a lot nicer on that one lol. Maybe it's all the hormones but I don't understand why some want to be rude! Congrats on your pregnancy!! And have fun with the gender reveal ideas! =D
  • I am not doing a party lol it's too much work and pointless to me. I just want a cute way to announce the gender to close family seperately. I will hound Pinterest tomorrow while I sit with this ABCSESS tooth lol. Btw I'd rather labor than a toothache.
  • For my daughter we decided just to have our immediate family over for dinner. When I went for the ultrasound I had the sonographer wrote the gender on piece of paper then seal it in an envelope. Right after we went to our bakery gave them the envelope and told them to make a cake based off of what was written. They did a great job and no one knew what the gender was until dessert. It was a great way to have family time and its such a special time! Have fun with it, don't over do it!

If you do not like the boards and the honesty around here then, why are you still here? I just don't get it. There are plenty of other internet forums that blow unicorn farts up your butt, the bump is not one of them.

You're going to tell me to grow up? Yet you are the one that cannot handle honesty? And you want to hang around these boards and b!tch about them instead of finding one you mesh with? Confused

There is a big difference between being honest and being rude. You are rude. End of story.

Hun, if you can't handle little old me the bump as a whole is going to be hell for you.

  • My point exactly. Someone got on this thread just to be rude. You guys need to get out of the house a little. You obviously have nothing better to do.
  • imageBreanneL24:
My mom always made us pancakes in different colors for breakfast and it was always a big deal when we were little! So when we found out we were having a boy last time, I went over to her house and made everyone blue pancakes to announce! It was fun and more personal to my family.

    That is absolutely lovely!

What difference does it make to you? Goodness. I am due 3 days before OP and I will find out the gender in 7 weeks. So maybe she will too.

It was rude. I've never seen a post where you say something kind or helpful, actually.

  • Never have I ever- heard of a "gender reveal party". And it sounds incredibly lame. Sorry Huh?

Also, is it just me, but I have never even thought to make this big a deal out of letting people know if I'm having a boy or a girl........if they want to know they will ask......

This all just seems so weird......
