Should I be concerned? (Possible TMI)

I have no used the bathroom in several days.  I finally did today and noticed blood in my stool....not a whole lot but enough that I noticed it.  Should I be concerned or call the dr?

Re: Should I be concerned? (Possible TMI)

  • If it's just a little bright red blood, it's likely that you either had a little tear near your anus or that you have developed hemorrhoids from straining too much.  You should take some stool softeners, fiber, extra water, and get some exercise. It should heal on its own, but it can't hurt to mention at your next appointment.

  • I would not worry unless it happened more than once or twice in a row. I'd assume it'd be from constipation

  • This happened to me at the beginning of my pregnancy, Dr. recommended some stool softeners and told me to drink a lot of fluids.

    This.

Also, hemorrhoids are bullship and horrifying to look at. If you have them, don't look! For the love of geese, don't look.
