An old friend of mine was kind enough to gift me 3 totes of her son's clothing. Very gently worn and mostly Gap, Gymboree, RLP, etc. I (think) they were packed clean, but she has a cat (allergic) and I am sneezing up a storm already this morning. STM - what is the best detergent to wash all of this with? Is it still Dreft? Or is there something better for an HE washer??

This. I've always just used All Free and Clear for the whole family. I don't use a separate detergent for baby clothes.
This. We always used Tide Free and Clear with DD.

Ditto PPs. Dreft is a racket. Switch the whole family to a free and clear. We use Method brand in our HE.
(NB: My answer to all of this changes if you're looking for a soap for your cloth diapers...)
This.
I
Charlie's Soap!!! I use it on everything (all of our clothes, cloth diapers, spots on couch/carpet, stroller... everything) and it cleans so amazingly well. When at my mom's house we use the free and clear stuff she has if I am out of my Charlie's stash there.
We love it! Our hard water doesn't let us use it on our diapers (they need the big guns), but its fantastic on everything else. :-)
