Baby Clothes 'til 2T...STM+ help pls

An old friend of mine was kind enough to gift me 3 totes of her son's clothing.  Very gently worn and mostly Gap, Gymboree, RLP, etc.  I (think) they were packed clean, but she has a cat (allergic) and I am sneezing up a storm already this morning.  STM - what is the best detergent to wash all of this with? Is it still Dreft? Or is there something better for an HE washer??

Dreft has a lot of fragrances like overwhelming. We use Charlie's Soap detergent or a free and clear.

We use Legacy of Clean Baby detergent, it is very gentle on babies skin and great for HE washers

I use Tide HE Free and Clear. I also like All Free and Clear. Draft is over priced, IMO esp since the regular detergents have all come out with the same thing. Yay for free clothes!!!

lol at "Legacy of Clean Baby".  That's like a garage band name.

Ditto PPs.  Dreft is a racket.  Switch the whole family to a free and clear.  We use Method brand in our HE.

(NB:  My answer to all of this changes if you're looking for a soap for your cloth diapers...)

If you still have an issue after washing it with a free and clear detergent I would get a plastic bin/tote and fill it up with the clothes, water, and oxyclean (free and clear) and let them soak for awhile. Rewash them after soaking and see if there's still an issue.

I Charlie's Soap!!!  I use it on everything (all of our clothes, cloth diapers, spots on couch/carpet, stroller... everything) and it cleans so amazingly well.  When at my mom's house we use the free and clear stuff she has if I am out of my Charlie's stash there.

We love it! Our hard water doesn't let us use it on our diapers (they need the big guns), but its fantastic on everything else. :-)
