I am supposed to start my injections in about 3 weeks and have an appointment with my OB on Tuesday. I'm not sure if I'm over thinking things or not but we have reached sort of an impasse.
We decided against a NT scan this time around (as we did before) so our last ultrasound was at about 7-8 weeks. I understand that the p17 should be started sometime between 16 and 21 weeks. My OB wants me to start on the injections as soon as possible but I would be more comfortable with an ultrasound first to confirm everything is ok. My next ultrasound will be our anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks (within the acceptable range to start p17). With DS, my OB ordered an ultrasound for us at about 12 weeks in lieu of a NT scan but when I talked to her about it, she doesn't want to order another ultrasound right now. She told me that if I'm not comfortable starting the injections until after another ultrasound, that we can wait to start injections after our anatomy scan.
Here is my dilemma: While I would like to know everything is ok before starting injections, I would hate for something to happen down the line that could have possibly been prevented by starting the injections earlier (as we would have a 2-4 week delay on injections if I waited).
Am I over thinking this? Any advice / words of wisdom??
TIA!
Re: question for 17p ladies
Starting the injections won't really change anything even if something were to be wrong, which fingers crossed everything is ok.
If you really need the reassurance then I would demand an u/s before, there is no reason they can't do a quick scan to put your mind at ease. If they really won't then I would still start them sooner rather then later. I feel like they have worked better for me this time since I started earlier
