Avery was our name choice if DD1 was a boy, but we probably wouldn't have stuck with it since Avery is a VERY popular girl name where we live and I didn't want a little boy to be in a classroom full of girls with his name. Its still a boy name to me though.

I never knew or would have guessed this to be a boy name until I joined this board. I always looked at it as feminine.

I'd be conscious of the fact that Avery will be used often among his peers.  While the board may prefer for Avery for a boy, that won't change the fact he will most likely have friends named Avery that are girls, not boys.  Peers can be rough on names... I'd just keep it in mind.
