Finally got the chance to sit down and post! what an amazing 5 days it's been.
after going a few days overdue my OB decided to induce me last friday. It started out fine, by the time they even gave me the cervadil I was already 1cm dilated and 80% effaced. When they gave me the Pitocin by 9am the next morning I was 100% effaced and 2, nearly 3cm dilated. after a couple of hours they gave me Nubain to help take the edge off the contractions. I was trying to hold off at least until I was 6-7 cm for the epidural. Nubain was a big mistake. It helped for a while but then it just made me feel loopy and out of control. Once it wore off I was screaming and crying to make the pain stop. it was horrible. Finally the time came for the epidural, it was instant relief. that lasted about 2 hours and I got sleep until I was about 9cm, then it wore off and the back labor kicked in. They tried to give me another dose of the epidural but they said not much helped for back labor and they thought the baby might have been just laying on a nerve. I was very literally writhing in pain for each contraction.
Thank god it was finally time to push, i thought at least it was nearly over. Had it not taken 3 hours of pushing I would have had a much shorter labor (even though 11 hours is short for your first). I was actually so exhausted i fell asleep in between pushes. Finally we made it to the last few pushes and there was Paul! Can you believe even the placenta didnt want to come out right away (TMI sorry). I swear when I grown things I grow them good and they dont wanna come out .
Paul didnt start breathing right away so they screamed for NICU and as soon as the nurse gave him one big thump on the back he starting crying. He was born on 12/29/12 at 10:09 pm weighing 7lbs 7ozs and was 20 3/4 inches long. It was just DH and I at the hospital that night because there was a snow storm. I knew he would be born in a snow storm!
