I don't know why in God's name I felt the need to do this, but I put
on my pre-pregnancy jeans to see how they fit - ya, I couldn't even get
them over my thighs
The maternity jeans I have are so uncomfortable - I'm always pulling them up (I had to get a medium because although the small fit overall, they were tight in the knees which didn't look good)
I've got 3 more months of pregnancy left. I've managed to only buy 1 mat bra, 1 mat jeans, 1 mat yoga pants and 1 mat dress pants and a couple bigger sizes of regular t-shirts. I'm a SAHW so I didn't need to buy much. That being said, I need a few more clothing items to get me through these last few months. I was going to just start wearing yoga pants and buy some new running shoes, but I feel so frumpy in them, especially because I am short and I have gained weight everywhere (normally I wear jeans with heeled wedges). I feel like an oompa loompa.
any suggestions on what to buy for the last few months?? I live in a relatively mild climate, and have managed to get by without buying a jacket. I dont even think we're getting snow this winter - yay!!!
since we're due in April, I feel like I'm going
to need to buy an entire new summer wardrobe because my body has changed
so much. As much as I love buying new things, I hate that I've spent
money on stuff I probably won't be able to wear again. what are you ladies planning on doing?
Re: what are you doing for clothing these last few months & afterwards?
I'm in Canada and we don't have Old Navy Maternity. Infact, my city only has 1 maternity store and even if I order online, it's automatically 2 weeks and $$$ shipping.
Ginny DX 21-Hydroxylase Deficiency Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia
Charlie DX Specific Antibody Deficiency & ASD
Love these prices! I need to hit old navy more for things other than shirts!
This.
As for PP, consignment, dresses and buying a cheap pair or two of a size larger jeans.
After having DS, I was still in mat jeans for several months until I fit back into my regular pants.. but I refused to by larger pants lol.
Ya, this is pretty much what I have been doing, lots of leggings and big sweaters. I wear 3 pairs of maternity jeans occasionally but I find that they fall down all of the time. Idk if it's just that the band is SO stretchy or they don't fit me right, idk. For Spring I'm just hoping it stays cold for a while. Not looking forward to really warm weather right after/around giving birth. I'll probably get some nice empire waist dresses/tops that kind of hide everything for next spring/summer until I can drop some weight.
Its a good time of year for sales. Old Navy, Gap (they both always have huge sale sections online) and Target are my go-to for cheap maternity clothes, I recently had a lot of luck with H&M maternity too. For spring clothes, Old Navy regular (non-maternity) makes a TON of elastic waist skirts, shorts, etc, and lots of jersey dresses. Those worked great for me for my July baby last time, and pefect for the couple weeks pp before I buttoned my regular clothes again. It may be too cold for most of that this time.
For versatility & to keep your shopping to a minimum, I'd recommend you get a couple of maternity sweater and/or jersey dresses. You can wear with leggings and/or tights & boots now with cardigans, then with flats when the weather warms up. I too hate maternity pants and feel like I'm always tugging on them. Fortunately, many of my non-mat work pants are still comfortable enough to wear most days with the belly band and a maternity shirt. Also, you can probably wear button down shirts and cardigans (unbuttoned) you already own with maternity tank tops that are nice & long. That's a cheap option too.
Where in Canada are you? I'm in Toronto, and almost every Old Navy store here has a maternity section. Some are small, and it may be hit or miss, but the prices are decent...especially the ones on sale (I got a pair of maternity jeans less than a week ago for $19.99). Maybe it would be worth your time to check out a bigger city nearby to see if they do have one?
I tried a few pairs on yesterday, and wasn't impressed. They kept sliding down.
