Normal infant fussiness?

I don't know if this is normal or not.  Kyle had MSPI and was a miserable infant in general.  So far Klaire is pretty good but the past two nights she has been up for hours fussing.  Last night she was up from 9-12 fussing then slept for less than 3 hours and was up from 3-5:30 fussing again-  she was eating off and on during this time but generally pretty fussy and wouldn't sleep.  If this were allergies she would miserable during the day also though, right?  Kyle was miserable all the time.  So, does this sound normal to you?  I am exhausted!  I know you should be with an infant but less than 4 hours sleep isn't going to cut it- especially with returning to work soon!  Help!

  • Sounds about right to me. They tend to 'wake up' at a couple of weeks old.

  • The amount of fussing you're describing sounds pretty normal (sorry!!!). ?Have you tried: ?pacifier? swaddling? sling? taking a walk? swing? bouncy seat? bouncing on exercise ball? skin-to-skin holding? ?I hope she starts sleeping for you soon. ?It truly is exhausting to have a newborn and a 2 yr old! ?When do you have to go back to work??? ?That is such a bummer you don't have a longer maternity leave.

  • Thanks ladies!  I would rather hear it is normal then face the diet change again!  I'm exhausted but I have a stash of 40oz already!  Yay!  i don't want to throw that out.  I go back to work in 4 weeks!  So, I want to get some sleep before then or at least work out a routine.

  • Sounds like the norm to me. ?I am anticipating my little guy to be more awake any day now. ?Could be that she is having her first growth spurt as well. ?Hope you get some rest soon! ?
