STMs- selling kids stuff

I am going to try to sell DD's crib bedding. If you've sold stuff before, where did you have the best luck? I posted something on my FB just to see. Then I was going to try ebay, craigslist and last bring it to a local kids consignment shop here.

Just curious. I gave all her clothes away so this is all I really have left and its in great condition so I thought I'd try to sell it. TIA!

  • Where I used to live, it was very densely populated (northern NJ) so Craigslist worked for me. I got rid of the changing table, high chair, pack n play, swings, gates, EVERYTHING (except the crib, we didn't have room so we put it down behind the apartments at the dumpster, laid it up nice and someone took it).

Now, though, I'm in rural bumblef*ck, but there is a town garage sale page on FB that I've been looking at (not that I'm trying to get rid of things now, but maybe to find things later on, someone had 3 garbage bag fulls of infant-6M boy clothes, but someone else jumped on it already). You may want to see about that. Or if your area has like, a free trader to put a small "for sale" ad in. It's free up to 20 words in ours.

  • See if your area has a for sale facebook group. That is way more active in my slightly rural area than CL. Good luck!

  • I sell items on Facebook groups, and sometimes Craigslist. I have also taken a lot to a local children's thrift store in exchange for store credit.

This is definitely what I was going to suggest. There are quite a few Facebook "yard sale" groups in my area. It's great for finding things, and I'm starting to sell some specifically girl things to make room for boy things!

  • A few friends are adding me to groups on FB where moms sell stuff. I had no idea! Thanks for letting me know as well! :)

  • If you want more money, try eBay. If you just wanna get rid of it fast, sell it on Craigslist.

  • Craigslist scares me because there have been many related robberies in the Baltimore area recently.  I am going to sell a bunch of DS's clothes and boy baby items in a mom group consignment sale that is coming up in the spring. I will use the proceeds to buy some pink onesies and whatnot.

  • I live close to a huge metro area so my Craigslist is a really good option, that's the only way I sell stuff. If this baby comes out a boy in April I might have a garage sale this summer to sell all of my daughter's clothes (we are 100% done after this baby), otherwise I will sell them over CL.

  • My area in Colorado has a lot of Mom sales. One is called Just Between Friends and it is national so you might have one near you. I haven't sold there because we kept everything but I will this fall. I think you get a bit more money from these sales. If your stuff doesn't sell then you can get it back and sell it on Craigs List or maybe a garage sale.

  • We've done a lot of buying a reselling on craigslist. It's kind of my favorite thing.  I know it depends on your area, but out here, it's a great way to sell things you don't want/need anymore and also find things you can't afford to pay full price for.  We've basically furnished our entire house on craigslist and I don't think anyone would know if they came in our house. :)

  • I used kijiji to sell most of DS's old things that we can't reuse for this baby.

  • Personally I like using Craigslist because it's local and free.  I just meet people somewhere public like a parking lot of a grocery store or something and get cash for the item so no dealing with paypal fees, shipping costs or listing fees.  Plus listing stuff on there is easier, and it's super easy to re-post something as well.  (just make an account, click on "My Account" and click on "repost")
