Adair

I've been really liking Adair lately (for a boy). I like that it is was derived from Edgar (which is also nice, but DH would never go for).

So how does Adair Louis sound? Do you think it has much teasing potential? A Dare?

    I prefer Louis Adair...

do you like Adair for religious or cultural reasons?

if not I would strongly say no - teasing will happen and his name will be spelled wrong and pronounced incorrectly for his whole life.

It's fine. One of the regs has a dd named Adair. I don't honestly see how this would get mispronounced often. It doesn't have have all that much teasing potential, not like naming your kid Dlck Power or something.

I like it but know it as a last name and have also seen it as a girl name - don't know if that bothers you or not.

I love Adair, but Louis Adair *sounds* better. That being said MH is named Alastair, which comes from Alasdair, so I'm partial to names that sound that way.

    I love Alasdair!

OP, my DD is Adair though I realize it is technically a masculine name. I know of two other female adult Adairs and one male. I think it works for either. I do love Louis Adair.

Forgot to add, we've had very little issue with people mispronouncing it.

For some reason I think of Adair as a girls name.  Maybe because it's similar to Adele.  I don't really like it though.  Sorry OP.

It's not my style. I think it sounds a bit pretentious.

I really don't like using Adair for a first name. This is a surname that doesn't need to become a first name. That's just my opinion. If you love it then go with it! I like it better than Diesel!

I like the name, but I prefer it on a girl. Sorry!
