Pregnant after IF

The great flu debate ;)

So, my mom is having a little New Years Day get together at her house tomorrow.  Its only going to be her, my dad, my 2 nieces and brother along with my grandpa.  However, my mom was really sick like 2 days ago with what she *thinks* was the flu. My grandma (who's in a nursing home) also has the flu at the moment and my grandpa went and visited her today but had to wear a mask inside. DH is paranoid and doesn't want me to go tomorrow in case I get the flu for some reason. He really doesn't want me to get sick or affect our LO. I think its fine and there's nothing to worry about.

What are your thoughts? Go anyways? Or stay at home just in case.....

  • Yes, it can be (but not always) very bad to get the flu and you will be miserable.  This far into the pregnancy, why risk it?  I agree with your DH that you should stay away.

  • I wouldn't risk it. If you get a fever I read that it can affect your LO. I have avoided anyone that shows any sign of sickness. Your mom would still be contagious at this point.

  • Personally, I would avoid. The flu can be very, very bad for pregnant women. Two years ago the flu sent a friend into PTL and she lost her little girl. Granted, she was around 22 weeks, which was a huge factor into why her baby didn't make it, but the flu did cause the PTL and I still wouldn't risk it.
