Newbie- Trying IUI Next Month

Hieveryone, I have been lurking for a few weeks now trying to take everything in.  DH and I have been married almost 2 years now and have never TTC. We were fairly certain that DH would not be able to have children due to chemo as a child but tests earlier this year confirmed the fact. We still have not been open about it to friends and family but we have moved on to checking into DS. The process has been easier than expected...the RE has been super nice and supportive and made us feel really comfortable. I just feel kind of lonely not sharing any of this with my family and friends and am hoping for some advice and support here.  If all goes as expected, we will start our first round of IUI in January.  Crossing my fingers and open to any advice from those who have used DS, had IUI, etc.  :)
Married since June 2011, MFI due to chemo, Me:No issues detected 1st IUI February 19th 2013 using DS +Femara & Injectables= BFP!!! Everyone Welcome!

I've had IUIs before.  They're pretty easy procedures.  You may have to give yourself a trigger shot 2 days beforehand, but don't let it scare you.  It's nothing!

Hope your first round is successful!

Hello! Popping over from paif. DH and I are in the same boat as you except his chemo was from a couple years ago when we first got married so we banked sperm however after many failed Ivf cycles we decided to move onto ds. I agree it was very easy. Seeing as I have no issues so far we did a natural iui cycle and I just tested for O. I am currently 11w1d and going to see ob today. Some of our friends and our parents know about Ivf bc they knew this all was a chance when he got sick and we pushed back chemo a couple weeks so we could plan. However only my parents and DH one friend know about ds. It's hard to have such a secret but at the same time the support on TB is amazing. Feel free to PM me anytime!!

Welcome!! Our first IVF failed and we are moving on to dIUI as well. Not cycling until Feb but we have met with RE about it and looked into some of the banks online, particularly Fairfax and California Cryobank. It was a little weird at first searching for donors but DH and I are now totally on board. Hopefully we can trade info! GL!

    Thank you ALL!  :)

laurag1986-we used California Cyro and ordered 3 vials.  I am hoping that is enough but now I am wondering if we should have ordered more for siblings.  I suppose if we use all 3 we could order more if available.  I'll be excited to hear how your second IUI goes!  AF came today so let the fun begin  :)

weazy27- Hoping that your IUI was successful this time!!!

kseav- I am sorry to hear about your husband's cancer, I hope he is healthy now and no recurrances!  DH and I have discussed the DS and we both believe that it doesn't take sperm to be a daddy.  The child will be as much his as it is mine. Congrats on your little miracle!! :)

I'm excited to hear about all of your journey's and hoping that we all have little bundles of joy soon!!
