High-Risk Pregnancy

XP: 17 weeks, measuring small

Please forgive my old ticker (if it is even still there) as it has been a really long time since I have posted.  I spent a lot of time on The Bump when pregnant with my son in 2010 following three losses.  I have MTHFR Compound Hetero and PAI and take Lovenox when pregnant, which seems to work as my son was born two years ago!

When I was pregnant with my son, I measured small (the baby's limbs) starting around 20 or 24 weeks and was followed closely because of this. I was always about 1-2 wks behind and he was in the 15-30percentile.  Griffin was born at 6lbs, 11oz and he does have short legs but so does his dad and paternal grandpa!  It was a long and anxiety-filled pregnancy that, in my opinion, turned out fine...

I am pregnant again and at my 16 week u/s last week my peri said she had concerns because the limbs AND jaw are measuring small (1 wk and 2 wks behind).  They recommended an amnio to rule in/out syndromes or chromosomal issues.  My NT scan results were in the normal range.  I find out tomorrow about the first round of results and then next week I will find out more about the less common syndromes.  The doctors and genetic counselors are scaring the crap out of me and I have barely slept since.

Has anyone had this experience and everything turned out ok?  Any words of comfort or advice?  Thank you all - sorry for just dropping in but I remember what an amazing source of support these boards were for me.

  • I don't have much advice, but if I were you I would wait to get any pending test results before proceeding to an amnio. Good luck and prayers everything is ok.
