I ask because I'm thinking about getting some to make unpaper towels with. The post below got me thinking about them being a good option, because other options can get really expensive.

It depends on which kind you get. There is a thin one that stays flat and another one that quilts up slightly. Not like a real cotton prefold, but it definitely comes out of the dryer quilted.

I have 3 kinds of Gerbers (given to me as gifts) that get used constantly as burp cloths. One kind is really puffy in the middle third but has fewer layers on the outside thirds. It would make a terrible un-paper towel. The other two might do alright. One is pretty thin, and the other is rather fluffy, but they both have the same amount of layers all the way throughout. Sorry, this was probably not helpful at all.
