darker specks in BM poop...normal?

DS had 2 dirty diapers today and both had the seediness look to them, but this time the seedy parts were darker than the rest of the poop. The poop was the normal orangey/yellow color, but the seeds/specks were a medium to dark brown color. Is this normal? Or could this be specks of blood? I know I've read about blood being in baby poop, but not sure what it would look like unless it was bright red, which this definitely is not. And according to google, digested blood can show up as darker flecks.

Guess I'll put a call in to the peds office...

Thanks! On-call nurse said common and probably normal...but to bag the diaper and call in the AM to see if doctors want to test the poop. So we'll see, but sounds like NBD.

In an older child/adult, blood in stool usually looks like coffee grounds.

Did you get ahold of the doc?  Any answer?

Doctor said to monitor over the week and, of course, call back if anything changes/worsens. Also said to bring in a poop diaper to be checked on Friday, when DS already has an appointment anyways. So he didn't seem too concerned.

This did not at all look like coffee grounds. Looked like the normal seediness, just the seeds were a darker brown color as opposed to the normal yellowish color.
