Cloth Diapering

What next

Im having a horrible time stripping my diapers. We just moved and have really hard well water. My bum genius 4.0 seem to be repelling the worst. Beads of water just sit on the diaper and don't soak in at all. I've stripped twice with hot water and dawn and they are still repelling. My normal wash routine is line 2 of tide and a half a cup of Calgon. Is there anything else I can try before I run and my an expensive water softener.

Re: What next

  • I know Rockin Green makes a detergent specifically for hard water. Have you tried that?

  • Try borax in your loads while you wash. To strip them go get a box of washing soda. Put a cup in your washer while the diapers are soaking in hot water. So, fill your washer then out the washing soda in and then out your dipes in. Agitate them to get them covered and completely soaked then let them sit for 15 to 30 min. Then do a fullhothers heavy duty cycle. Then a regular heavy duty hot cycle Woah your detergent then another cycle with no detergent. I just did this with all my diapers yesterday and finally have no more stink issues! Washing soda is the same as rlr and that's what a lot of people swear by for a good strip. If you have a front loader try to borrow someone's top loader like your mom or dad or sister or someone else. Good luck! I'll be doing this routine once a month since my front loader doesn't want to clean my diapers as well as I'd like!!!
